What is the LCF (Library Communications Framework) Consortium?

The LCF Consortium is a group of library industry organisations that publicly, fully endorse, support and promote the adoption and use of LCF.

To be a publicised and acknowledged member of the Consortium, BIC asks interested organisations to commit to the following:

  • If required by BIC, provide resource (speakers and / or funds) to forthcoming LCF events where customers can learn more about LCF
  • If required by BIC, provide a technical resource to forthcoming technical workshops / PlugFests where we ensure compatibility between our solutions
  • Agree to have compatible solutions available from the end Q1 2016 (preferably sooner)
  • Agree to promote the framework on your website and sales literature

Costs

To support this initiative, BIC will incur some costs in promoting the standard. It is therefore proposed that each Consortium member contributes £500 (payable to BIC) in which to create a small LCF marketing fund. This fund will be used to pay for events, promotional activities and materials and other similar promotional / marketing charges / costs – a list of the costs would be maintained by BIC and available for all LCF consortium members to see.

Please note, being a member of the LCF consortium does not include BIC membership or attract any BIC membership benefits. Attendance at BIC committees, working groups, or panel meetings is reserved for BIC members only.

What is the LCF (Library Communications Framework) Consortium?
