Out of Print Best Practice

Last updated 8th February 2022

Out of Print Best Practice (OPBP) Working Group

This project launched in March 2021 and is charged with agreeing, documenting and promoting best practice for the treatment of out of print (OP) products for all organisations in the book industry. The guidelines will cover all areas of the supply chain (physical and digital). As such it is intended that the guidelines will not be issued solely with publishers in mind, but will also include best practice for data aggregators, retailers, service providers, distributors and so on.
It is anticipated the project will run for 6 months.

The project group is made up of BIC member volunteers from across the industry and is led by BIc consultant Peter Mathews.  The project is expected to last 6 months and will meet regularly online. This will be followed by a period of adoption and review.
